Emilio

Terms of use

Last updated: 3 November 2026

Emilio is a meal planning app: it suggests recipes, helps you plan the week and write the shopping list, and is shared between the members of a household. By creating an account or using the app, you accept these terms.

1. Publisher

Emilio is published by KKAT LTD (“we”). You can reach us at support@emilioplans.com for any question about the app or these terms.

2. Your account

Using Emilio requires an account, created with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. Your account is personal: you are responsible for what is done with it. Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using it.

You must be at least 15 to create an account, or have the permission of a parent or guardian. You agree to give accurate information and keep it up to date.

3. The service

Depending on the version, Emilio includes a catalogue of recipes written by us, the ability to create, import or adapt your own recipes, a meal plan, a shopping list, collections, planning rules and Emilio, the assistant. The service is provided “as is”: we improve it regularly and may add, change or remove features. We do our best to keep it available at all times, but we can't guarantee that it will never be interrupted (maintenance, incident, hosting outage).

4. Emilio, the assistant

Emilio's answers, suggestions, adapted recipes and recipe photos are generated automatically by artificial intelligence. They can be inaccurate or incomplete: check them before relying on them, in particular quantities, cooking times and allergens. Generated photos are illustrations, not pictures of the actual dish.

5. Subscription and free trial

Some features require a subscription, monthly or annual, bought in the app through the App Store. The price, including taxes, is shown in the app before you confirm; it may vary by country.

  • Free trial. The annual subscription may start with a free trial, offered once per household. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and is charged at the end of the trial.
  • Payment and renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or at the end of the trial. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless automatic renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; the renewal is charged in the 24 hours before that end.
  • Managing and cancelling. You manage and cancel the subscription in your iPhone settings (your name, then Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel the subscription.
  • Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own rules, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Household. An active subscription gives every member of the subscriber's household access to the subscription features, as long as they belong to the household.
  • Price changes. If the price changes, you are told in advance, following the App Store rules, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

6. Shared household

A household brings together several accounts that share the recipe library, the meal plan, the shopping list, the collections and the planning rules. Every member can read and edit this shared content. You join a household through an invitation link, valid for seven days; by accepting an invitation, you leave your previous household. You can leave a household at any time from the app, and the household's administrator can remove a member. Your preferences, favourites and reviews stay personal and are not shared.

7. Your content

The recipes you create or import, your profile photo, your reviews and your planning rules belong to you. You grant us, for as long as you use the service, a non-exclusive, free licence to host, store, display and reproduce this content only as far as needed to run the service, including showing it to the other members of your household.

You confirm that you have the rights needed for the content you add. A recipe imported from another website remains subject to its author's rights: importing is for your personal, household use. We may remove content that is clearly unlawful or contrary to these terms.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the service for unlawful purposes; infringe the rights of others; try to access other people's accounts or data; disrupt the service (excessive load, getting around limits, reverse engineering the API); resell or commercially exploit the recipe catalogue without our written permission. In case of serious breach, we may suspend or close the account concerned.

9. Food and dietary information

Nutrition values, diets and allergens shown on recipes and in Emilio's suggestions are indications, calculated or estimated per serving, and may contain errors or omissions. Filtering out recipes that contain the allergens in your profile relies on these indications. It replaces neither reading the labels of the products you buy nor the advice of a health professional. If you have an allergy or a medical diet, always check the ingredients yourself.

10. Intellectual property

The app, its design, texts, illustrations, photos and the recipes of the catalogue are protected by copyright and remain the property of KKAT LTD or its partners. You have a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the app as described in these terms.

11. Apple and the App Store

These terms are between you and KKAT LTD, not Apple. If you downloaded Emilio from the App Store, your licence to use the app is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; on that licence, it prevails over these terms.

12. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings, Account, Delete my account). Your personal data is then erased and your sessions are revoked. Shared household content stays available to the other members, with no link to you. The privacy policy gives the details. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription.

We may close an account that has been inactive for a long time, after warning you by email.

13. Liability

We do our best to make Emilio reliable and safe, but we can't guarantee that the service will be free of errors or always available. As far as the law allows, our liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage resulting from a failure on our part; it doesn't cover indirect damage, data loss caused by improper use, or the consequences of wrong food information that a reasonable check would have avoided. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example for a new feature or a legal obligation. The date of the last update is at the top of the page. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies; continuing to use Emilio after that date means you accept it. If you don't accept the new terms, you can delete your account.

15. Applicable law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the country where the publisher is established, subject to the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence. Before any legal action, please write to us at support@emilioplans.com: most problems are solved by a simple exchange.
